I recently visited Klinik Pergigian Shiny for a sensitive tooth issue and teeth cleaning. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. I initially came for advice and a solution for a sensitive tooth with an obvious hole. However, the dentist informed me that 3 other areas required fillings due to cavities. When I asked about the cost, I was told it would be around RM100 per filling, so I expected a similar range. However, I was eventually charged RM150 for 2 teeth and RM120 for another tooth. The entire session, including scaling, took less than 15 minutes, with a total charge of RM540. I was asked by the nurse to arrive on time as the dentist needed to leave at 6pm. Although I arrived on time, I was only attended to close to 5.45pm despite no other patients being present. The treatment felt rushed, and I did not receive the detailed explanation, advice, or professional guidance that I normally receive from other dentists. If the treatment had resolved my issues, I would have accepted the cost. However, after the scaling and resin-based composite fillings, 3 teeth (not the original sensitive tooth I came in for) became sensitive, and one tooth started hurting when biting — issues I did not have before the appointment. I monitored the condition for a few days, but the sensitivity and pain persisted. I eventually visited my regular dentist, who identified that one filling was too high and causing the biting pain. After adjustment, that issue improved. However, the sensitivity problem remains, and I have needed multiple dental consultations since then. What disappointed me most was that my original concern was not properly addressed. The sensitive tooth with the obvious gap/hole was eventually resolved by another dentist, who clearly explained my condition, treatment options, and long-term management plan. At Klinik Pergigian Shiny, I was only advised that it was “hypersensitivity” and that nothing could be done. As patients, we are not only paying for the procedure itself, but also for proper diagnosis, explanation, and professional advice. This is the first time I have experienced so many dental problems after a dental appointment. More than 2 weeks now, I am still dealing with the dental issues that developed after the treatment at this clinic, resulting in additional costs, multiple dental visits, and time spent trying to resolve them.
